'One of the scariest crashes I've ever seen'

Triple world champion Jackie Stewart once estimated he lost 57 friends in an 11-year period to racing accidents, while 1976 world champion James Hunt had his own take on the hazards of the sport. "I have no doubt that 90 per cent of the people who come to motor racing do so secretly hoping to see a spectacular crash," he said. "That is entirely their privilege.
