“It was like a piece of me, you know?” It was my mother and I’s first home together. And it’s just gone – there’s nothing left. You know, I’m always moved to talk about it because my boys could easily have died. I knew they would be safer here with her than in my trailer. “That Friday night I felt the house shake, I went to the bathroom and put my two boys, grandsons, in my tub, and all I could do was pray, ‘Lord, keep us safe, that’s all i ask, keep us safe. This is my bathroom. That’s where the tub was, the tub. I couldn’t hold on anymore then. It was just, I mean, like a second. It just happened so fast. They were just gone. All I could say was, “Lord, please find my babies, Lord, please help me find my babies.” I didn’t know where they were. I couldn’t see them. It was pitch black. I had no idea. Now, then another vehicle came down, God bless his heart. He said, ‘You say you have two babies in a tub.’ All they heard was just a little whimper. Because when they came and told me the boys were safe, they found them, I lost him. They finally got their hands on my daughter and she is coming – God bless her heart. But I just thank God that everyone is safe. Because here it was nothing but material things that can be replaced. I don’t care about any of that. I don’t care what soil I walk on. I’m just praising God for the life he gave me and spared me and my boys. I thank him for that. I thank him for everything he has done for me.
